Position Summary

CyGenica is seeking an experienced scientist for our chimeric/fusion protein development project. This role involves designing, developing, optimizing, and scaling up isolation, expression and purification processes of recombinant proteins, chimeras/fusion proteins for our therapeutic programs in oncology and rare diseases.

This is an advanced role offering an incredible and exciting opportunity to bring your valuable expertise not only to be a part of cutting-edge research (at the interface of biotechnology, biofunctional chemistry and cell biology) but also to  develop transferable skills by working with a fastgrowing startup.

Strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration are essential. The candidate will work independently, manage multiple projects, present updates in group meetings, and support preclinical process development, product characterization, and technical transfer to CDMOs/CROs

Qualifications & Experience
  • Ph D in biotechnology/life sciences/biochemistry/molecular biology with up to 2 years of relevant experience (fresh  PhDs can also apply)
  • Strong understanding of analytical biochemistry and experience in protein analytical characterization, including mass spectrometric analysis of protein
  • Industry experience in protein chimera/fusion proteins, design, development, expression and purification
  • Past industry experience on designs and implements new procedures for process improvements in protein chimera development
Detailed Job Description

Technical skills:

  • Design, cloning, expression and purification of various chimeric/fusion proteins derived from bacterial cells and  characterize proteins using a variety of analytical methods (SDSPAGE, HPLC-SEC and Mass spectrometry).
  • Strong experience in protein chimera development and molecular biology techniques
  • Common chromatographic methods for protein purification (Ion exchange, affinity, size exclusion (SEC) and preparative SEC)
  • Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques including plasmid manipulation, PCR, genomic DNA isolation, DNA cleavage analysis
  • Common protein analytical methods: SDS-PAGE, western blot, CD, DLS, RP-HPLC, IEXHPLC
  • Continuously evaluate each process and technique to assess its robustness, suitability, and scalability; introducing required modifications and improvements when necessary.

Other Essential Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills; ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
  •  Demonstrated focus on KPIs, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant software.
  • Ability to engage effectively across all levels of management, staff, and clients.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines.


Research, Documentation, and Laboratory Management

  • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data; prepare and review SOPs and reports.
  • Maintain clear, detailed experimental records daily.
  • Collaborate with teams and CROs to propose solutions and contribute to scientific plans.
  • Conduct literature reviews and assist in research proposals, partner reporting, and publications.
  • Ensure a safe and efficient lab environment; source, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment.
  • Handle program-related administrative tasks and perform other responsibilities as required.
