Cheminpharma Products India Private Ltd is a biotechnology startup focused on discovering and developing innovative small-molecule therapeutics targeting oncology and rare diseases. Cheminpharma is building a multidisciplinary team with expertise in chemistry, biology, and computational sciences to accelerate the path from idea to clinical candidate.

We are seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. Scientist in Synthetic or Medicinal Chemistry as an early employee. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new start-up helping to establish a chemistry lab, and your work will directly impact the design and synthesis of novel drug candidates.

Job Description

• Design and execute efficient synthetic routes to novel small molecules, including hit and lead compounds.
• Perform multi-step organic synthesis, purification (chromatography, crystallization, HPLC), and compound characterization (NMR, LC-MS, HRMS).
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists, biologists, and computational scientists to optimize compounds for potency, selectivity, and ADME properties.
• Analyze SAR trends and propose new analogs or modifications to improve compound profiles.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and present experimental results at internal meetings.
• Contribute to project planning, literature searches, and patent preparation as needed.
• Help build lab infrastructure and contribute to shaping the team culture typical of an early-stage startup.

Candidate Profile 

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry (0–2 years post-Ph.D. experience).
  Strong background in modern synthetic organic chemistry, including reaction mechanisms, catalysis, and functional group transformations.
• Hands-on experience with standard purification and analytical techniques (column chromatography, LC-MS, NMR, HPLC).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex synthetic challenges and work independently.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and team collaboration skills.
• Preferred (nice-to-have):
  • Experience with structure-based drug design principles or familiarity with computational chemistry tools.
  • Knowledge of medicinal chemistry optimization principles (SAR, PK/PD, metabolic stability).
  • Exposure to early drug discovery environments or industry internships.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a startup environment, wearing multiple hats and adapting quickly.
