Design education often focuses on drawing and theory, but understanding how ideas become real products requires exposure to practical environments and real constraints.
The Venture Center Library is hosting From Books to Build | A Design Immersion Experience, created to introduce Grade 11–12 students preparing for B.Des and B.Arch to the realities of professional design practice.
In this interactive half-day program, participants will engage with structured design briefs, observe spaces through a designer’s perspective, and gain insight into how concepts progress from sketches to physical prototypes. The session connects classroom learning with the processes followed by startups, product designers, and innovators.
What participants will explore :
- Understanding how design operates in real-world contexts
- Working with simplified client-style design briefs
- Observing built environments through a design lens
- Learning how prototypes are developed using fabrication tools
- Presenting ideas and receiving structured feedback
