This hybrid session explores how national programmes are accelerating the journey from lab to real-world impact across IP, devices, and diagnostics. Led by Dr. Suchita Markan, a key force behind India’s medtech and translation initiatives, the session offers an insider lens into the systems shaping the country’s biomedical innovation ecosystem.

Dr. Suchita Markan — Scientist F; Head, Innovation & Translation Research (ITR); and Mission In-Charge, Medical Device and Diagnostics Mission Secretariat (MDMS), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

  • 18+ years of experience in biomedical research, public policy, and medtech innovation, driving strategies with strong public health impact.

  • Leads flagship national programs MedTech Mitra and Medical Innovations Patent Mitra

  • National thought leader representing India in medical devices & diagnostics globally.

  • IVLP Emerging Leader (US Dept. of State) and Cornell Health Innovation alum

  • PhD (PGIMER); executive training from IIM Lucknow & AIIMS Jodhpur; RTTP-certified with multiple publications
