About the speaker: Mr Gerswynn Mckuur
Gerswynn is an Industrial Development Officer in the Division for Energy and Climate Action where he is responsible for projects in various developing and emerging economies and regions. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town (South Africa) and has more than 25 years’ worth of experience in industry, academia and the UN system. In the recent past, he has worked as UNIDO’s Global Coordinator for its Global Cleantech Innovation Programme. The programme promotes innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem development and is operational in 16 countries.
Mr. Mckuur was also the coordinator for the Clean Energy Ministerial’s Energy Management Working Group, a group of 17 countries and regions who aim to demonstrate energy management as a key energy efficiency strategy to optimise energy use in the industrial and commercial buildings sectors.
Mr. Mckuur has contributed to various projects promoting cleantech innovation, enhancing industrial energy efficiency capabilities, and strengthening partnerships between public and private sectors. He previously served as the Chairman of the Board of the Measurement and Verification Professionals Council of South Africa, served on the South African Bureau of Standards Committee on Energy Management, was the Interim Chair of the Board for the establishment of the new ESCO Association of South Africa (EASA).
