Mechanical Engineering Intern – Mechanical Design & Product Development

Renu Medtech Private Limited is a medical device company based at Venture Center, Pune, focused on the design and development of compact wearable medical device subsystems. The company works across mechanical design, electronics, embedded systems, and industrial design to bring innovative healthcare products from concept to commercial reality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, exploded views, and Bills of Material (BOM); design precision mechanisms, miniature assemblies, enclosure systems, structural components, cartridge interfaces, fixtures, and test rigs.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and design optimisation.
- Build and evaluate prototypes using additive manufacturing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and vendor-manufactured components; support prototype assembly, integration, and iterative design refinement.
- Conduct engineering testing, dimensional verification, fitment studies, tolerance analysis, and design iterations.
- Perform structural, motion, and mechanical simulations using ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or equivalent CAE software; conduct stress, strain, deformation, contact, fatigue, factor of safety, and basic thermal analyses.
- Validate engineering concepts using simulation results and recommend design improvements.
- Support material selection considering strength, manufacturability, cost, and product performance; apply DFM and DFA principles.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners during prototype development.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, embedded, industrial design, and manufacturing teams.
- Prepare engineering documentation, simulation reports, technical reports, and design review presentations.
Candidate Profile
Education
- B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Background in Medical Devices, Wearable Devices, Product Design, Precision Mechanisms, Machine Design, Robotics, Consumer Hardware, Injection Moulded Products, Precision Manufacturing, Biomedical Engineering, or Regulated Hardware Products is an added advantage.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Machine Design, Product Design, GD&T, Engineering Drawings, and Tolerance Analysis.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, injection moulding, additive manufacturing, and precision manufacturing.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Fusion 360, or Siemens NX.
- Experience with ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or equivalent CAE tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
