Indus Biotech- Venture Center Collaboration on Technology Incubation and Entrepreneurship Promotion

Venture Center and Indus Biotech Pvt. Ltd. have teamed up to support technology incubation and technology entrepreneurs in the Venture Center’s extended innovation ecosystem.

Under its Corporate Social Responsibility activities Indus Biotech has provided funding for supporting technology ideas and innovators selected and recommended by Venture Center. This collaboration was launched in FY2017-18.

Objective:

  • To support technology incubation and technology entrepreneurs associated with Venture Center, an incubator approved by the Central Government (DST-NSTEDB and BIRAC of Ministry of Science and Technology).

  • To identify sincere and high-potential science and technology-based entrepreneurs and assist them in their entrepreneurial journey by providing focused and essential interventions at appropriate moments.

  • To create a brand of high-quality entrepreneurs around the name of Indus Entrepreneurship Fellows that should evoke a sense of a) high quality science and technology, b) dedicated and sincere entrepreneurs, c) high potential for impact. The selected Fellows will benefit from continuing and ongoing support (as long as this program exists).

  • To handhold the selected entrepreneurs with on-going support of different kinds as needed without restrictions. Support can be in the form of project grants, seed investments, prize money, travel grants, access to specialized services, subsistence stipends, etc.

The scope of the collaboration includes:

Under the proposed project, EDC proposes to support technology ideas and innovators with funding support. The support is intended to help a budding entrepreneur strengthen the business case and/or technology status so that it is more likely to get commitment of funding support from funding agencies and/or investors. EDC will extend its own mentoring support and facilities access to the selected awardee.

Support can be in different forms and as deemed appropriate by the POC. This could include:

  • Project grants

  • Prize money

  • Travel grants

  • Access to specialized professional services

  • Subsistence stipends

  • And any others suggested by the POC and allowed by Venture Center policies

The projects and technology entrepreneurs will be preferably chosen to the following themes :

  • Focused on a leveraging science and technology/ inventions

  • Focused on building a sustainable and scalable entrepreneurial venture

  • Any other themes suggested by the Project Oversight Committee (POC)
