A soil microbiologist by training, Dr. Warke started HiMedia in 1974 with a small batch of culture media made in his own kitchen, at a time when India depended entirely on costly imports. That conviction grew into India's first globally recognised biosciences brand, now home to over 30,000 products worldwide.
The Venture Center Library is delighted to invite you to an inspiring Author Talk with Anuradha Parab, author of Genius Gem: Dr. G. M. Warke — a book exploring the founder's remarkable journey, achievements, and contributions to science and the biosciences industry.

Anuradha Parab is a Mumbai-based journalist, writer, editor, translator, and researcher with over three decades of experience. She has contributed to leading Marathi publications including Loksatta, Maharashtra Times, Sakal, Navshakti, Prahar, and Saamana.
She holds M.A. degrees in Marathi Literature and Sanskrit (Indology). Her areas of interest include literature, history, culture, heritage, archaeology, and science & technology.
She is the author of books including Vasudev Kamat, Gatha Sashthichi, and Genius Gem: Dr. G. M. Warke (2024). She has received the Daya Pawar Smruti Award and the 2018 Vidyadhar Gokhale Smruti Award. She is currently engaged in archaeological and cultural research related to the Konkan region.
