Background and Resources

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations, adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at an historic UN Summit, came into force on 1st January 2016. Out of these 17 goals, Goal 2 focuses on: Ending hunger, achieving food security and improved nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture. This goal further elaborates on doubling agricultural productivity of small-scale food producers by 2030 (Goal 2, Target 2.3) and promoting policies that support entrepreneurship (Goal 8, Target 8.3) in this domain.
